Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Latvia held a meeting with the chief executive officer of Maxima Latvija V. Troitsin, Dunyo reports.
The event provides detailed information on ongoing large-scale socio-economic transformations in Uzbekistan. Systemic measures in the country on trade liberalization, export stimulation, attraction of foreign investments and advanced technologies were especially noted.
Troitsin informed that Maxima Latvija is part of the Maxima Grupe structure, managed by Lithuanian Vilniaus Prekyba. This group comprises 520 retail centers in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland and Bulgaria. She also owns a number of large pharmacy chains (Euroapotheca), construction and decoration materials and home goods stores (Ermitažas), real estate companies (NDX) in Eastern Europe.
Maxima Latvija is a major player in retail sales in Latvia, having 168 outlets throughout the country and occupying a 27 percent market share. “An extensive network, high quality products, rich assortment, low prices can satisfy the most diverse needs of customers,” said the head of Maxima Latvija. According to him, the online store Barbora is also successfully operating.
The Latvian company mainly purchases fruits and vegetables and melons, dried fruits from Uzbekistan through Latvian companies working with Uzbekistan on a long-term basis. This is partly due to the fact that Maxima Latvija will not concentrate resources on certification issues, licensing procedures and pre-sale preparation of goods.
Troitsin expressed readiness for a substantive examination of the possibilities of establishing, including direct ties in certain product areas, given the importance of special attention to such parameters as price, quality, certification, packaging, labeling and others.
The Uzbek side emphasized the availability of the opportunity to diversify its product lines by examining the prospects for the supply of confectionery, juices, textiles, including finished products and other goods.
An agreement was reached on organizing in the near future negotiations in the video mode between Maxima Latvija purchasing officials and Uzbek exporters, and working out joint measures to increase the recognition of Uzbek products in the Latvian market.
