Uzbekistan increased internal processing of cotton fiber to 60%

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan increased internal processing of cotton fiber from 7% in 1991 to 60% in 2018. The figure will reach 100% by 2025, it was announced during the press conference in Tashkent.

It was underlined that over US$3 billion were invested into the textile industry of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan plans to increase production of textile products by 2.6 times and the exports volume to US$7.1 billion by 2025.

Uztekstilprom Association’s enterprises produced goods for 2.32 trillion soums. The production of industrial goods reached 4.15 trillion soums.

It was noted that Uzbekistan adopted cluster model for development on principle of creation of vertical and horizontal integration of related industries on production and processing of raw cotton and production of textile goods.

In 20 district of Uzbekistan, the cluster system was introduced with participation of investors from Great Britain, Switzerland and Russia. Currently, over 74 projects are implemented in Uzbekistan.

The textile enterprises are expanding exports. In the first quarter, the volume of exports reached US$360 million. Products were exported to over 42 countries, including three new states – USA, Israel and France. The volume of high added value products in total exports reached over 46%.

Uzbekistan plans to host Global Textile Days Tashkent 2019 on 10-14 September 2019.
