Uzbekistan Improves Its Ranking in Global Government AI Readiness Index

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan ranked 62nd in the 2025 edition of the Government AI Readiness Index, published by Oxford Insights. The country climbed eight places compared to the previous year, achieving a score of 54.69.

Uzbekistan’s strongest performance was in the “Policy & Strategy” category, with 80.5 points, and “Government Administration”, scoring 79.13 points. In contrast, the AI Infrastructure score was 45.87. Other indicators include AI adoption in the public sector (64.42), technology development and diffusion (38.72), and resilience (39.61).

Experts note that Uzbekistan is making steady progress. Among key initiatives is the president’s recent goal to train five million AI specialists by 2030.

In the South and Central Asia region, Uzbekistan ranks fourth, behind India (21st globally), Turkey (48th), and Kazakhstan (60th).

The 2025 Index evaluates the readiness of 195 countries to adopt AI amid growing challenges such as shifting citizen needs, economic volatility, climate risks, and rising social inequality. The report not only highlights achievements and gaps but also provides practical recommendations for policymakers seeking to effectively integrate AI into public governance.
