Uzbekistan imports 400 million kWh of electricity from Kyrgyzstan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan imported 400 million kWh of electricity for US$17 million from Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by the Kyrgyz media with reference to the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use Aitmamat Kadyrbaev.

He noted that, according to the Electric Power Plants, Uzbekistan purchased 399 million kWh of electricity from Kyrgyzstan at 2 cents per 1 kWh.

Today, electricity was exported to Uzbekistan for US$17 million. Last year, 754 million kWh was planned to be exported, but 765 million kWh of electricity was actually exported, he added.

“In 2018, for the spring and summer period, 467 million kWh of electricity was exported to Uzbekistan. According to our calculations, it was planned to export 500 million kWh, but exports were suspended at the level of 467 kWh,” he said.
