Uzbekistan Holds Seminar for Exporters on WTO Rules and Changes in National Legislation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 30 September, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, together with the Ministry of Justice, organized a training seminar for representatives of export-oriented businesses.

The event aimed to familiarize entrepreneurs with the rules and standards of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and to provide updates on recent changes in national legislation regulating export activities.

The seminar was attended by Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan on WTO issues Azizbek Urunov, Deputy Minister of Justice Mahmud Istamov, Legislative Chamber Deputy Umid Yakubkhodjaev, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dilshod Rasulov, as well as representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, the Exporters’ Association, the Food Industry Association, and about 30 exporting companies.

Speaking at the event, Azizbek Urunov emphasized that Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO will open up new opportunities for domestic entrepreneurs, including expanded access to international markets.

Participants discussed key issues related to export activities: WTO rules, measures to simplify customs legislation and trade procedures, reforms in technical regulation, sanitary, quarantine and veterinary requirements, food safety standards, as well as the importance of intellectual property rights in export operations.

At the conclusion of the event, entrepreneurs received detailed explanations and answers to pressing questions from government officials and experts.
