Uzbekistan holds final meeting of the International Monetary Fund mission

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 21 November, as part of the mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), a meeting was held between the delegation led by Yasser Abdiq, Head of the IMF Mission to Uzbekistan, and Jamshid Kuchkarov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the talks, the parties discussed the country’s economic and financial development, including macroeconomic indicators, achieved results and established targets for sustainably reducing inflation, the privatization process and private-sector support, as well as budget management and taxation issues.

The IMF representatives gave a positive assessment of Uzbekistan’s economic growth rates and development prospects.

It was noted that despite global economic uncertainty, the country continues to demonstrate strong performance in maintaining macroeconomic indicators and advancing socio-economic development. Particular attention was paid to the country’s progress in the process of accession to the World Trade Organization.

In addition, the discussions highlighted the importance of continuing economic and financial reforms in the coming years, ensuring macroeconomic stability, keeping inflation under control, reducing the state’s share in the economy, strengthening the role of the private sector, and combating the shadow economy.

Following the talks, the parties agreed to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and expand the exchange of views on the issues discussed.
