Uzbekistan Havo Yollari denies reports of Boeing-787 Dreamliner malfunction

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Havo Yollari (Uzbekistan Airways) denied reports of a Boeing-787 Dreamliner aircrafts malfunction.

A number of foreign media outlets reported that the Moscow-Tashkent flight HY604 was delayed for an hour and a half on 24 December for allegedly due to a malfunction of the aircraft’s engine and that the crew were literally forced to fly back on a malfunctioning aircraft.

The airline noted that the flight was actually delayed by 1 hour and 18 minutes. “The reason for delay was related to passenger boarding and anti-icing treatment of the aircraft,” underlines Uzbekistan Airways.

The airline has denied reports that frequent short-haul flights have led Boeing-787 planes in a deplorable state. According to Uzbekistan Airways, Boeing-787 Dreamliner aircraft were purchased to ensure comfortable movement over short and long distances.

All types of aircraft require a planned modification or scheduled repair of individual components, also noted in Uzbekistan Airways. After each flight, each airplaneundergoes thorough diagnosis, during which a number of parameters are checked. In case of deviation from the norm, the aircraft is removed from flights and sent for additional diagnostics or repairs.

The airline added that now two Boeing-787 Dreamliner airplanes are undergoing a planned upgrade of the engines, which will allow the airline to avoid unnecessary expenses, increase the number of hours the aircraft has been in operation and reduce fuel consumption.
