Uzbekistan, France discuss trade-economic relations

Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad Matthias Fekl headed the French delegation.

Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiev led the delegation of Uzbekistan.

Elyor Ganiev said that France is one of the main trade partners of Uzbekistan in the European Union and trade relations between the states is growing.

He said that trade turnover between Uzbekistan and France grew by 3% and reached over US$300 million in 2015 and US$150 million in the first half of 2016.

Uzbek official said that Uzbekistan is interested in further expanding bilateral investment relations, attracting leading French companies to realization of projects in all spheres of economy of Uzbekistan.

Matthias Fekl said that interest of France to Uzbekistan is growing. He added that over 20 companies arrived in Uzbekistan with the delegation.

After the session, Uzbekistan and France signed bilateral agreements. The Governments of Uzbekistan and France inked agreement on air communication. Uzbekistan Temir Yollari and ALSTOM inked an agreement on production of asynchronous traction motors in Uzbekistan. Sanofi and Uzpharmsanoat signed a memorandum of intention on production of vaccines.

Within the intergovernmental commission, the business forum with participation of business circles of two states and cooperation exchange were held.
