Uzbekistan, France discuss protection of rights of intellectual property
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - First Deputy and Deputy Chairmen of the Antimonopoly Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bobur Karimov and Farrukh Karabaev met with the Regional Advisor on Intellectual Property in the CIS at the French Embassy in the Russian Federation Nelson Emery.
During the meeting, Mr. Emery was introduced to the latest reforms, as a result of which the State Committee for the Promotion of Privatized Enterprises and the Development of Competition was transformed into the Anti-Monopoly Committee, whose functions also include protecting intellectual property from unfair competition.
Mr. Emery was informed about the measures and mechanisms used by the Anti-Monopoly Committee in order to protect the rights of intellectual property objects and prevent cases of unfair competition in the Republic of Uzbekistan. In addition, the topic of anti-counterfeiting in the country’s market was touched upon.
In turn, the representatives of the Committee were presented the procedure and experience of the French authorities in the fight against unfair competition, protection of intellectual property and counterfeit. According to Mr. Emery, an important aspect of preventing the presence on the market of counterfeit goods is the transparency of the presence and activities of the investor, as well as an established system of relations “producer-supplier”.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the French side expressed its readiness in further cooperation with the Anti-Monopoly Committee to establish a closer dialogue and exchange of experience on a wide range of issues relating to the protection of intellectual property rights and the fight against counterfeit products.
