Uzbekistan, France consider implementation of tourism project in Tashkent region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 June, Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade hosted a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Economy of Finance and French company Orex Loisirs.

The sides discussed opportunities of cooperation within the intiatatives on creating multi-profile tourism complex in Charvak Water Reservoir Zone.

The French partners showed an extraordinary interest in this project, meaning both financial and technical assistance and direct participation in its implementation.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Uzbekistan Violaine De Villemeur, who was also present at the meeting, highlighted the project’s potential in catalyzing the development of local infrastructure and services, which in turn will contribute to attracting secondary investments, as well as the development of the region’s tourism situation after the successful implementation of the concept of the project already developed by French architects, this complex promises to become the largest and unique ski tourist center in Central Asia.

The total investment in the development of tourism infrastructure will be about US$500 million, while it is planned to lay more than 60 kilometers of ski slopes and 20 kilometers of aerial cableway, and the territory of the complex will exceed 42 hectares.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to send the working group to the place of the planned deployment of the project to discuss technical issues. A roadmap on the joint implementation of measures for the timely implementation of the project will also be developed jointly with the French partners.
