Uzbekistan Football League Revises National Cup Format Ahead of National Team Training Camp for 2026 World Cup

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Professional Football League of Uzbekistan has announced a revised format for the country’s National Cup due to the participation of the national team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the upcoming training camp scheduled for May.

Under the updated regulations, tournament participants will be divided into seeding pots: the first pot will include clubs that finished in positions one through eight in last season’s

Super League, the second pot will comprise teams ranked ninth through fifteenth, while Pro League and First League clubs will be placed in the lower pots.

Special attention is given to the first pot, as players from these clubs may be called up to the national team during the May camp, which could potentially affect Cup results.

The tournament’s playoff stage, including the semifinals and final, will be held in a centralized format, allowing clubs to know in advance the exact dates and venues of the decisive matches.

The PFL emphasized that the changes aim to optimize the competition schedule in accordance with the international calendar and the interests of the national team.
