Uzbekistan Extends Zero Import Duties on Food and Consumer Goods Until 2027
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree extending the zero customs duty rates on the import of food and consumer goods until 1 January 2027.
Previously, such measures applied to 36 categories of goods and were introduced in March 2023, while the first exemptions on 22 types of food products were established by presidential decree in May 2022.
Vice Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, together with relevant ministries, has been tasked with proposing adjustments to the list of goods eligible for zero duty as needed, taking into account food security, population supply levels, and price stability in the domestic market.
Imports from countries that do not enjoy the most-favored-nation status will also not be subject to double duties or additional tariffs.
The decree covers a wide range of products and goods, including meat and canned meat, fish and caviar, dairy products and cheeses, eggs, vegetables and fruits, legumes, flour and grain, bakery products and pasta, oils and confectionery, sauces, beverages, personal hygiene items, and children’s clothing and footwear.
The decision aims to support the affordability of food and essential goods for the population and strengthen the stability of the domestic market.
