Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- It is expected that the design capacity of enterprises for the production of cement in the Republic of Uzbekistan will increase by 60% by the end of 2020 and reach 20 million tonnes, Ulugbek Abrayev, deputy chairman of the board of the Uzbekqurilishmateriallari association, said.
Taking into account the growing demand for construction products, the Uzbekqurilishmateriallari association has developed a plan according to which it is planned to increase the volume of cement produced in the country to 14.5 million tonnes in 2021.
In 2020-2021, the association plans to build and launch 10 cement plants in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, Tashkent, Andijan, Ferghana and Namangan regions.
Today, 30 specialized enterprises are engaged in the production of cement, among which the largest are Qizilqumcement, Akhangarantsement, Quvasaycement, Bekabadcement and Almalyk mining and metallurgical plant. The total design capacity of cement enterprises in Uzbekistan is more than 12 million tonnes of cement a year.
