Uzbekistan Expands Support for Medical and Pharmaceutical Workers
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan has signed a resolution aimed at strengthening social protection, financial incentives, and professional recognition for medical and pharmaceutical workers.
The document outlines a comprehensive set of measures, including financial rewards, new social benefits, and improved working conditions in public healthcare institutions.
Starting from 2026, healthcare workers will receive annual awards on the occasion of Medical Workers’ Day, funded by the Medical Institutions’ Development and Incentive Fund.
A national competition will also be introduced at the republican and regional levels, with prize money of up to 500 million soums for medical institutions and up to 30 million soums for individual specialists and managers.
Outstanding professionals will be nominated for state awards and sent for training at leading international educational and research institutions, funded by the State Targeted Fund for the Development of Medicine.
Beginning from 1 April 2026, public healthcare institutions will adopt a five-day work week, while ensuring uninterrupted medical services through a duty system.
Doctors who introduce innovative treatment methods at the district and city levels will receive a reward of 50 base calculation units. The state will also partially cover university tuition for children of medical workers with over 15 years of experience and provide housing subsidies covering 25% of the initial mortgage payment.
Additionally, employees who complete national accreditation will receive a monthly bonus equal to 10% of their base salary.
Each year, 500 medical and pharmaceutical professionals with at least 15 years of experience in public healthcare institutions will be eligible for state compensation covering 25% of the down payment on a mortgage loan for housing.
From 2026, medical and pharmaceutical workers with a minimum of three years of service will be entitled to one free high-tech specialized medical procedure per year. Those with over 15 years of service will receive free sanatorium vouchers and a 50% discount on government service fees.
These measures aim to strengthen the role of doctors as guardians of the nation’s health and to build a sustainable system of recognition and support for medical professionals.
