Uzbekistan Expands Energy Storage Systems Nationwide
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is actively advancing energy storage systems within its power sector, enhancing grid stability and enabling more efficient integration of renewable energy sources.
According to the Ministry of Energy, in 2024, two 150 MW energy storage systems were commissioned in the Ferghana and Andijan regions, totaling 300 MW.
In 2025, ten additional systems with a combined capacity of 1,245 MW were brought online. For 2026, six more systems totaling 884 MW are planned for commissioning.
The Ministry aims to increase the total installed capacity of energy storage systems to 4.5 GW by 2030.
Developing this infrastructure not only strengthens energy supply reliability but also creates favorable conditions for large-scale deployment of renewable energy, aligning with Uzbekistan’s national sustainable energy strategy.
