Uzbekistan Expands Digital Cooperation with China
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies held talks with Frank Panbilan, Chief Strategy Officer for international data cooperation, to advance digital partnership with China.
During the meeting, the parties discussed attracting leading Chinese technology companies to Uzbekistan through the establishment of representative offices in the Lin-gang special zone. Plans also include launching startup hubs at local universities in cooperation with leading Chinese academic institutions, as well as studying China’s advanced experience in digitalization to support the development of digital services and smart cities in Uzbekistan.
For reference, the Lin-gang technopark has attracted more than US$100 billion in investment over the past six years, with a total area exceeding 120 square kilometers.
In addition, Thomas Wang, founder and chairman of Linkwise, announced that at the initial stage of the MIHM project being implemented in the Tashkent region, computing capacities worth US$70 million have already been delivered to Uzbekistan.
The cooperation is expected to boost innovation, facilitate technology transfer, and expand investment, elevating bilateral relations to a new level.
