Uzbekistan Establishes National Committee for Sustainable Urbanization and Housing Market
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 20 November 2025, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree establishing the National Committee for Sustainable Urbanization and the Housing Market.
This decree follows the President’s decree “On Measures for Sustainable Development of the Housing Market and Mortgage System.”
Its main purpose is to enhance the efficiency of state management in urban development and housing construction, organize the work of the National Committee, and strengthen cooperation between government bodies and international partners.
Key priorities of the Committee include:
- Coordinating the implementation of residential and non-residential construction projects in Nukus, Tashkent, regional centers, and other urban agglomerations.
- Monitoring annual targets for multi-apartment housing construction in the “Yangi Uzbekistan” residential districts and other comprehensive housing areas.
- Identifying and approving territories for integrated construction and new residential districts.
The decree sets the Committee’s management staff at 50 full-time positions. The Committee is also authorized to engage domestic and foreign specialists, including scientists and researchers, to implement projects under a project-based management approach.
Funding for the National Committee’s activities will come from the State Budget and other sources permitted by law.
