Uzbekistan Enters Global Top 10 in World Bank GovTech Index
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan ranked 9th in the World Bank’s GovTech Maturity Index (GTMI) for 2025, climbing 71 positions compared to 2020, according to newly published data by the organization.
Over the past five years, the country’s GTMI score increased from 0.617 to 0.958, enabling Uzbekistan to secure a place in Category A — “High GovTech Maturity.” As a result, the republic ranked first in Central Asia and entered the global top ten alongside countries such as South Korea, Australia, India, and Canada.
The GTMI assesses the level of digital transformation in public administration across four key dimensions: core government digital systems, online public service delivery, digital citizen engagement, and institutional enablers supporting GovTech development.
The dynamics of Uzbekistan’s performance demonstrate steady progress: the country ranked 80th in 2020, improved to 43rd place in 2022, and rose to 9th place in 2025.
The World Bank noted that these results reflect the effectiveness of Uzbekistan’s reforms aimed at digitalizing public administration, expanding e-government services, and building a more transparent and user-friendly system of interaction between the state and citizens.
