Uzbekistan Embassy Engages Yonhap for Media Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Embassy of Uzbekistan held a meeting with senior officials of South Korea’s leading news organization, Yonhap News Agency, to strengthen media cooperation and international coverage of Uzbekistan.
Attendees included Yonhap President Hwang Dae-Il, Managing Director Kang Ee-Yeon, and International Relations General Manager Hwang Sonik. Discussions focused on increasing information exchange, highlighting Uzbekistan’s modernization, and showcasing the dynamics of Uzbek–South Korean relations.
Particular attention was given to preparations for President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to Seoul and his participation in the “Central Asia – South Korea” summit scheduled for September 2026. Plans discussed include launching a permanent “Uzbekistan Today” segment on Yonhap platforms and establishing a correspondent office in Tashkent.
The parties also supported a joint journalistic expedition exploring the history of the Korean diaspora in Central Asia, aiming to broaden international awareness of the region’s cultural and historical heritage.
