Uzbekistan Discusses Water Infrastructure Modernization with KfW

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 November 2025, First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Norkulov held a working meeting with a delegation from the German development bank KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau).

KfW is a German state-owned financial institution that provides funding to support economic development as well as social and environmental initiatives.

The delegation included Veronika Garcia Del Arco, Director of the Department for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia; Peter Georgiev, Director of KfW’s regional office for Central Asia in Tashkent; and Malik Mukhitdinov, Project Coordinator of the regional office.

During the talks, both sides discussed the current state of cooperation and priority areas for joint work, including the implementation of investment projects. Particular attention was given to modernizing water infrastructure and ensuring its efficiency and sustainability.

Following the meeting, representatives of both parties reaffirmed their commitment to continuing constructive cooperation aimed at achieving shared goals and implementing projects that strengthen the bilateral partnership between Uzbekistan and KfW.
