Uzbekistan Discusses Expansion of Guarantee Instruments with World Bank

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 28 November, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Ilhomjon Umrzakov held a meeting with representatives of the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).

The discussions focused on practical mechanisms to support the transformation of state-owned enterprises and the expansion of guarantee instruments in priority sectors of the economy.

World Bank representatives presented an overview of proposed services and investor support measures.

The parties agreed to continue cooperation to strengthen the creditworthiness of private investors and implement major investment projects that enhance Uzbekistan’s economic potential.

MIGA, a member of the World Bank Group, provides support for attracting foreign direct investment to developing countries. The agency offers private investors and lenders risk insurance and credit enhancement instruments, facilitating large-scale investment projects and the development of national economic capacity.
