Uzbekistan Discusses Energy and Healthcare Projects with Sojitz

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 14 November, Ilzat Kasymov, Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held a working meeting with Taro Okamura, Regional President for the Middle East and Central Asia of the Japanese company Sojitz Corporation.

Sojitz Corporation is one of Japan’s largest trading and investment companies, operating more than 80 offices in 50 countries worldwide. The holding implements projects across engineering, transport, energy, healthcare, chemical and mining industries, as well as the agro-industrial sector.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed the current status and prospects of joint projects in energy, healthcare, and infrastructure, as well as measures to expand bilateral cooperation.

Special attention was given to the implementation of major initiatives, including the construction of a multi-specialty hospital under a public-private partnership model, the establishment of a 1,573 MW combined-cycle power plant, the creation of a 1 GW wind power station, and the advancement of projects for new transport and logistics facilities.

Both sides emphasized their mutual interest in strengthening strategic partnership and jointly implementing projects that contribute to the development of Uzbekistan’s key economic sectors.
