Uzbekistan Detects 414,000 Cases of Drug Overpricing
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek authorities identified 414,300 cases of medicine overpricing in 991 pharmacies during the past year and early 2026, the press service of the Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Rights Protection reported.
Of the violations, 152 were linked to wholesale operations, while 839 occurred at retail pharmacies. Following inspections, recalculations were made in favor of consumers, and measures were implemented to restore their rights.
The total unjustified revenue from overpricing amounted to 8.5 billion soums. Violations were initially flagged through the tax authorities’ monitoring system and subsequently recorded in the unified Fair Tech information system.
As a result, six companies had their licenses revoked, including Farm Effekt, Pharma Brend, Gipofiz Farm, Maxsudbek Biznes, The Great Farm, and Medex Group Pharm.
The committee emphasized that price monitoring in the pharmaceutical sector will continue to protect consumer rights and ensure transparency in the industry.
