Uzbekistan Delegation Studies US Experience in Fighting Drug Crime
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation of Uzbek officials from relevant ministries and agencies is currently on a working visit to the United States to study international experience in combating transnational organized drug crime.
The delegation includes Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee, Otabek Choriyev, and specialists from relevant sectors.
The visit aims to examine advanced international practices, facilitate the exchange of operational knowledge among law enforcement agencies, learn mechanisms of interagency and cross-border cooperation, and strengthen bilateral interaction in this field.
The program includes meetings with leaders of INL, CT, EXBS, CDP, and SCA to discuss projects focused on improving material and technical resources and enhancing staff training.
Delegates will also participate in events with the DEA, FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on detecting online drug crimes and countering emerging financial schemes.
Visits are planned to key US law enforcement institutions, including EXBS export control and border security programs, the San Ysidro port of entry, and southwestern border customs posts, with a focus on modern methods for detecting and preventing smuggling.
Additionally, the delegation will tour the FBI Academy, DEA training center, New York Police Department, and the office of the Southern District of New York.
The results of the visit are expected to inform the development of university curricula in Uzbekistan, improve law enforcement training, and support the implementation of new strategic approaches in combating illegal drug trafficking.
