Uzbekistan Delegation Studies Belarus Nuclear Energy Expertise
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 7 April, as part of a working visit, a delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan led by Deputy Prime Minister Achilbay Ramatov continued a practical study of Belarusian expertise in the nuclear power sector.
The visit program began with a tour of the training center at the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, where the Uzbek side was presented with a detailed model of the station and briefed on the key principles of its operation. Particular attention was paid to the technological processes and design features of the VVER-1200 power units.
During the tour, the delegation visited a full-scale control room simulator. Specialists demonstrated the operation of the power units under various operational modes, including the simulation of emergency and off-normal situations. The Uzbek side studied the action algorithms for operating personnel, incident localization mechanisms, and protocols for safe plant shutdown as fundamental elements of nuclear safety.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited Ostrovets, the satellite city of the nuclear plant. Together with city leadership, they reviewed approaches to integrated urban development, including the creation of modern social and urban infrastructure. Specifically, the delegation examined the activities of a multifunctional public complex that includes a library, a cinema and concert hall, and other cultural leisure facilities.
Of particular interest was the visit to the Ostrovets Central District Clinical Hospital, which is equipped with modern medical technology and oriented toward serving both nuclear plant employees and city residents. Projects for housing stock and sports infrastructure, including standard residential complexes and a modern sports center, were also presented.
It was noted that the practical portion of this visit serves as a continuation of negotiations held in Minsk on April 6. The parties confirmed their mutual interest in developing cooperation, including the involvement of Belarusian specialists as technical consultants for the implementation of the nuclear power plant project in Uzbekistan. They also discussed joint efforts in planning a modern satellite city in the Jizzakh region.
The visit demonstrated a high level of trust between Uzbekistan and Belarus and confirmed the commitment of both parties to expanding their partnership in the high-tech field of nuclear energy.
