Uzbekistan Delegation Participates in Opening Ceremony of Winter Olympics in Italy
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The official opening ceremony of the XXV Winter Olympic Games was held in Italy, taking place across two cities: Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. A delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan participated in the ceremony, carrying the national flag during the traditional Parade of Nations.
Uzbekistan will be represented at the XXV Winter Olympics by four athletes competing in three sports.
In pair figure skating, the country will be represented by Dmitry Chigiryov and Ekaterina Geynish.
In alpine skiing, Medet Nazarov will compete in slalom and giant slalom events. In short track speed skating, Daniil Eybog will participate in the 500-meter race.
Earlier reports noted that the Uzbekistan delegation had traveled to Italy to take part in the Winter Olympics.
Following the qualification cycle, Uzbek athletes secured four Olympic quotas, confirming their right to compete at the premier winter sports forum in figure skating, alpine skiing, and short track speed skating.
