Uzbekistan Delegation Discusses Primary Healthcare Reforms at 38th CIS Health Council Meeting

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Minister of Health Asilbek Khudayarov, participated in the 38th meeting of the Council for Cooperation in Healthcare of CIS countries, held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

During the event, Minister Khudayarov delivered a speech highlighting the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan’s primary healthcare system and outlined key priorities for the future.

Bilateral meetings were held within the forum, focusing on projects to enhance primary healthcare, as well as initiatives in maternal and child health. In particular, Khudayarov met with Hans Kluge, Director of the WHO Regional Office for Europe.

A trilateral memorandum of understanding was agreed upon between the Ministries of Health of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and the World Health Organization regarding healthcare in the Aral Sea region.

The Uzbek Minister also held meetings with counterparts from Tajikistan, Russia, and Kazakhstan. Discussions with Tajik Health Minister Jamoliddin Abdullozoda covered cooperation in sanitary-epidemiological control, prevention of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes, professional training, and experience exchange.

With Russian Deputy Health Minister Oleg Salagay, issues of collaboration between Russian scientific and medical centers and leading medical institutions in Uzbekistan were discussed.

With Kazakh Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova, the parties agreed to organize Kazakhstan Medicine Days and the “Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan” forum from 13 to 17 October, as well as expand joint training of medical personnel.

The delegation also visited several clinics and higher medical educational institutions in Dushanbe to familiarize themselves with their operations.

Following the forum, the CIS Executive Committee proposed hosting the next meeting of the CIS Health Council in Uzbekistan.
