Uzbekistan Defeats Gabon 3-1 at FIFA Series 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzbekistan national football team claimed a 3-1 victory over Gabon in the FIFA Series 2026™, held in Tashkent.
Gabon initially took the lead in the sixth minute when Teddy Averlant delivered a precise finish following a cross from the left flank. Uzbekistan equalized in the 14th minute: Aziz Ganiev’s cross from the right found team captain Eldor Shomurodov, who scored with a clean strike.
The first half was closely contested, with both teams creating scoring chances, but no further goals were recorded. In the second half, Uzbekistan stepped up their play. In the 56th minute, following a corner kick, Shomurodov headed the ball, which the Gabonese goalkeeper saved, but debutant Jahongir Urozov was first to react and netted his first goal for the national team.
Uzbekistan continued to create dangerous opportunities, though they failed to convert them. Gabon had a chance to equalize late in the game, but Urozov blocked a shot headed for an open goal. In stoppage time, Alisher Odilov scored the third goal for Uzbekistan, sealing the win.
In another tournament match, Venezuela defeated Trinidad and Tobago 4-1.
