Uzbekistan-Czech Republic: Mutual interest in expanding cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23-24 September 2019, a regular meeting of the Uzbek-Czech Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was held in Prague.

The Uzbek side was led by Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Laziz Kudratov, the Czech side was headed by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vladimir Bertl.

The delegations of the two countries were represented by experts from relevant ministries and departments, companies from the sectors of engineering, food and textile industries, the production of building materials, agriculture, energy, pharmaceuticals, insurance, tourism, transport, trade and investment, information technology.

According to the information of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Berlin, the commission resumed its work after a break of more than six years, marking the beginning of a new stage in the development of bilateral cooperation, which has been gaining momentum in recent times. Thus, the growth in bilateral trade in the first half of 2019 made up 67.3%, reaching US$$46.5 million. An important stage for the intensification of the Uzbek-Czech trade and economic cooperation was the business forum held in April in Tashkent with the participation of representatives of business circles of the two countries, which showed. During the meeting, in accordance with the approved agenda, the parties considered urgent issues of developing bilateral cooperation in various areas, developed specific recommendations aimed at intensifying the interaction of government departments and business entities of Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic. Following the meeting of the commission, a corresponding protocol was signed.

The members of the Uzbek delegation also met with the leadership of a number of ministries and departments, companies and banks of the Czech Republic, during which the Czech side was informed in detail about the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan and the favorable investment climate created, and promising projects in various fields.
