Uzbekistan creates “Uzbekcosmos” Agency
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On the development of space activities in the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
In accordance with the Decree, the Agency for Space Research and Technology under the Cabinet of Ministers was created, the press service of the Ministry of Justice said.
Also, the Office of Satellite Communications Technologies of the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications was abolished with the transfer of the released 5 staff units to Uzbekcosmos Agency.
The Agency is a government body responsible for the development and implementation of a unified state policy and strategic directions in the field of space research and technology.
The General Director and Deputy General Directors of the Agency are appointed and dismissed by the decision of the Government.
A decree also established a Scientific and Technical and Expert Council under the Agency.
It was determined that decision-making on strategic issues in the development of the space industry is based on the conclusions of the Council.
According to the Decree, the Road Map for the development of the space industry in the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2019-2020 was approved.
In addition, the Law on Space Activities will be developed.
