Uzbekistan Clarifies Powers of Local Government Authorities

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a law amending several regulatory acts to clarify the powers of local state and executive authorities.

Under the updates, the functions of local executive authorities now include addressing issues related to the placement, construction, and improvement of bus stops, dispatch points, and other facilities; concluding agreements with city transport management bodies for providing passenger transport services to the public; developing traffic organization plans; and overseeing the quality of passenger transportation.

Local representative authorities are granted the power to approve comprehensive regional programs for the development of road transport and monitor their implementation, as well as to approve certain local budget expenditures related to fire safety, including funding for fire services.

The law comes into force upon its official publication.
