Uzbekistan, China express concern with situation in Afghanistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and Chinese President Xi Jinping signed a joint declaration on further developing and deepening bilateral relations of strategic partnership on 9 September 2013.

The document said that two counties are for creation of peaceful, stable and independent Afghanistan, Xinhua reported.

The parties agree that the maintenance of peace and stability in Central Asia is in the interests of the two countries. The parties will continue close cooperation aimed at maintaining and promoting peace, stability and development in the region, and oppose foreign interference in the internal affairs of the countries of Central Asia, undermining the stability of the region in any form.

The parties, stressing that stability and security in Central Asia is closely linked to the situation in Afghanistan, pay great attention to the future development of the situation in that country and its impact to the neighboring countries and the region. The sides are willing, under the leadership role of the UN to keep close contact with the international community, in the implementation of initiatives to promote the process of building a peaceful, stable and independent Afghanistan.
