Uzbekistan, China Boost Agricultural Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Representatives of Uzbekistan and China held talks in Tashkent focused on strengthening cooperation in agriculture and poverty reduction.
The meeting was co-chaired by Zhang Zhili, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, and Marat Juraev, First Deputy Minister of Poverty Reduction and Employment of Uzbekistan.
During the discussions, the parties identified key areas of cooperation for 2026–2027.
These include joint research into the causes of poverty, the development and approval of a roadmap for project implementation, advanced training programs for Uzbek specialists in China, as well as the implementation of initiatives under the China–FAO trust fund totaling US$130 million, which includes demonstration and exhibition projects in the agricultural sector.
Zhang Zhili also invited Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov to take part in an international forum scheduled to be held in China from 26 to 28 May.
Following the meeting, the parties signed a protocol of the subcommittee session, formalizing the agreements reached and outlining further areas of cooperation.
