Uzbekistan builds hospitals for quarantine and treatment of patients with coronavirus

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In connection with the dangerous epidemic situation in the world, a number of tough measures are being taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in Uzbekistan. This was reported by the public relations department of the Ministry of Health.

At present, the special republican commission is taking immediate, serious measures, which was created in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 29, 2020 “On the Formation of a Special Republican Commission for the Preparation of a Program of Measures to Prevent the Import and Distribution of a New Type of Coronavirus in the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

The creation of the Anti-Crisis Fund under the Ministry of Finance in the amount of 10 trillion soums in accordance with the Decree of President played an important role in this regard.

In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection and strengthen effective treatment measures, work has begun on the creation of a number of hospitals in a short time.

In particular, three modern specialized medical facilities are being built in the city of Tashkent. The first is the buildings of the newly-built Children’s Infectious Diseases Hospital No. 3 (144 beds) and Children’s Cardio-Rheumatology Clinical Hospital No. 4 (158 beds) in Chilanzar District, and their commissioning is planned for the coming months.

Work is also underway to transform the new building of the Tashkent Dental Institute in Yashnabad district into a modern medical facility with 250 beds. The building will be commissioned in May 2020.

In addition, on the initiative of the head of state, 55 hectares of land were allocated in Yukorichirchik district of Tashkent region for the construction of a quarantine institution, which will be built in a short time. Another major institution will be built in the Zangiata district. These days, the construction of a hospital for 10,000 beds is actively ongoing on allocated 27 hectares of land. It is expected that this hospital will be commissioned in the near future.

And also at the moment, the same buildings for quarantine and treatment of those infected with coronavirus infection are being built in Andijan, Navoi and Surkhandarya regions.
