Uzbekistan Blogger Faces Legal Action for Supplement Ads

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Competition Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan has initiated an investigation against blogger Kahramon Sirajov, known as Qahramon Tabib, for violating advertising regulations.

The regulatory authority took note of videos published on the blogger’s Instagram profile, which promoted a dietary supplement allegedly more effective and affordable than the joint flexibility product “Argon.”

The advertisement exaggerated the supplement’s benefits and failed to provide complete information about its characteristics. The Committee emphasized that such a presentation could give consumers the false impression that the product is a medicinal drug.

Article 35 of the Law “On Advertising” prohibits equating dietary supplements with medicines, making unverified therapeutic claims, or demonstrating improvements in health as a result of their use. Additionally, supplement advertisements must include a disclaimer stating that the product is not a medicine.

Following the review, the Committee’s Special Commission issued an administrative protocol against Sirajov. The case has been forwarded to court for consideration in accordance with the established procedure.
