Uzbekistan Begins Issuing Pensions in Cash Using Face-ID and Electronic Signature
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has started issuing cash pensions using Face-ID technology and electronic signatures, the press service of the off-budget Pension Fund under the Ministry of Economy and Finance reported.
From October, a new procedure for pension payments has been launched across the country: recipients can now collect cash pensions through biometric identification and verification of their electronic signature.
The Pension Fund noted that the system’s implementation aims to ensure full and timely delivery of pensions and increase transparency in the process.
“This will prevent cases where the People’s Bank reported a pension payment as ‘completed,’ even though the pension was not actually issued to the citizen or was paid to another person,” the agency said.
Additionally, the country is introducing proactive pension assignment by age. Men will automatically receive payments upon reaching 60, and women at 55. Previously, citizens had to personally apply at a Pension Fund office or the Public Services Center to receive their pension.
According to the amendments, a citizen’s right to a pension is determined based on data from state information systems, and payments are assigned on the day the pension age is reached.
