Uzbekistan Banks’ NPL Ratio Reaches 3.3% as of March 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The total volume of non-performing loans (NPLs) in Uzbekistan’s commercial banks reached 20.26 trillion soums as of 1 March 2026, according to data from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan. The NPL ratio stood at 3.3% of the total loan portfolio, which amounted to 613.7 trillion soums.
State-owned banks account for the bulk of problem assets. Nine banks with state participation hold 14.67 trillion soums in NPLs, representing 3.6% of their combined loan portfolio of 410.4 trillion soums.
The largest NPL volumes among state banks were recorded by National Bank of Uzbekistan with 3.47 trillion soums (3.3% of its portfolio), Agrobank with 2.7 trillion soums (3.2%), and Uzpromstroybank with 2.35 trillion soums (3.6%). The highest NPL ratios in this segment were reported by Mikrokreditbank at 4.8%, Asaka Bank and Business Development Bank at 4.5% each.
Private banks demonstrated a lower level of problem loans. Banks without state participation reported a combined loan portfolio of 203.3 trillion soums and NPLs totaling 5.59 trillion soums, resulting in a ratio of 2.7%, below the market average.
Among private lenders, the highest absolute volumes of NPLs were recorded by Kapitalbank with 1.11 trillion soums (3.0%) and Ipoteka Bank with 1.07 trillion soums (3.1%). Hamkorbank maintained one of the lowest NPL ratios in the sector at 0.9% with a portfolio of 25.8 trillion soums, while Orient Finans Bank reported 0.2% and Universal Bank 0.7%.
Some banks showed elevated concentrations of problem assets. The highest NPL ratio was recorded by Garant Bank at 12.1% (182 billion soums out of a 1.51 trillion soum portfolio). It was followed by AVO Bank with 6.1% and TBC Bank with 6.7%. Anor Bank reported 4.9%, while Hayot Bank posted 4.4%.
At the same time, UzKDB Bank and Uzum Bank reported zero NPLs, while Apex Bank and Octobank maintained ratios below 0.2%.
Poytaxt Bank recorded an unusually high NPL ratio of 32.6%, although its loan portfolio remains relatively small at 256 billion soums.
