Uzbekistan Banking Supervision Committee Reviews 43 Cases

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In February 2026, the Banking Supervision Committee of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan held seven meetings during which 43 issues were reviewed and corresponding decisions were made.

Of these, 30 issues concerned registration and licensing procedures. They included amendments to the charters of credit institutions (3 cases), issuance of permits for ownership stakes in banks’ charter capital (1 case), submission of auditors’ qualification certificates for inspections in credit institutions (6 cases), registration of microfinance organizations (5 cases), reissuance of licenses for payment services (1 case), and consideration of candidates for supervisory boards, management boards, and key personnel of banks (14 cases).

The remaining 13 issues related to the financial condition of credit institutions. The Committee examined compliance with prudential norms and Central Bank directives, inspection results of commercial banks, protection of banking service consumers’ rights, cybersecurity requirements in banks and payment organizations, and testing of financial services within the “regulatory sandbox.”

Following the inspections, 11 banks were fined for violations of legislation. Fourteen banks and four payment organizations received official warnings to correct deficiencies and align operations with regulatory requirements.

Additionally, eight banks were restricted from distributing profits through dividends on ordinary shares. This measure aims to mitigate potential negative impacts of losses on financial stability and ensure the formation of macroprudential buffers.
