Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A new phase of agricultural cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan is being discussed in Tashkent במסגרת the international forum “Italy – Central Asia (C5) + Azerbaijan.”
Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, held talks with a delegation led by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Agriculture, Majnun Mammadov.
During the negotiations, particular attention was paid to accelerating the construction of the “Garden of Friendship” in the Karabakh region, as well as to перспективные направления bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector.
Azerbaijani specialists proposed organizing seminars and training programs in Uzbekistan aimed at developing the agricultural crop insurance system.
The parties also discussed fruit and vegetable processing, expanding logistics capabilities, and facilitating Azerbaijani entrepreneurs’ access to the Chinese market via Uzbekistan.
Special importance is being attached to the establishment of olive plantations in Uzbekistan, which is expected to help diversify the agricultural sector and enhance the country’s export potential.
Representatives of 15 Azerbaijani companies operating in agriculture are taking part in the forum, underscoring the practical focus of bilateral cooperation.
Following the meeting, Deputy Director of Uzbekistan’s National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture, Oybek Omonov, and Director of the Azerbaijan Agricultural Research Center, Rashad Huseynov, signed a memorandum of cooperation.
Under the document, the parties will exchange scientific information and expertise, implement joint research projects, conduct training for specialists, and introduce innovative solutions in practice.
The cooperation is aimed at the широкое внедрение modern approaches in agriculture and the practical application of scientific developments, which is expected to improve efficiency in the agricultural sector and strengthen food security in both countries.
