Uzbekistan, Austria hold political consultations
The sides exchanged opinion on current state and perspectives of development of multipronged Uzbek-Austrian dialogue, as well as actual international and regional problems, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
It was noted that the cooperation between two nations, which was established over 20 years ago, is developing based on friendly relations and the sides formed solid legal framework. The sides accrued positive experience in interaction in various areas of mutual interest.
The sides expressed interest in deepening contacts between parliaments of two states, including to exchange experience on legal support of political-legal, social-economic reforms. They also confirmed their interest in expanding and diversifying relations in trade-economic and investment spheres. Currently, 31 enterprises with Austrian investments operate in Uzbekistan.
The sides underlined that both Uzbekistan and Austria are interested in implementation of new joint projects in such high technological sectors of economy as machinery, electrotechnical, energy saving equipment, construction materials, pharmaceuticals, chemical and textile industry, agriculture industry, ICT, etc.
During the consultations, two sides discussed issues of cooperation in cultural-humanitarian sphere, including exchanges among educational and scientific institutions.
The delegation of Uzbekistan also held meetings and negotiations with Advisor of President of Austria on foreign policy Helmut Freudenschuss, chairperson of committee on finance and budget of parliament Günter Stummvoll, chairperson of parliamentary group of Austria – Central Asia and Caucasus Friendship Group Karl Öllinger, Director-General of Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth Franz Wessig and Vice President of Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Richard Schenz.
The sides considered perspectives of the Uzbek-Austrian cooperation in various areas.
A presentation of economic and investment potential of Uzbekistan was held at the Federal Economic Chamber of Austria, which was attended by over 30 companies from Austria.
The Uzbek delegation also familiarized with activities of several leading Austrian companies.
