Uzbekistan Assists Pilgrims Stranded in Saudi Arabia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Officials from the Uzbek Consulate General in Jeddah visited the Kanari and Al-Ayam Elite hotels in Mecca, where more than 170 Uzbek citizens are waiting to return home.

The pilgrims arrived in Saudi Arabia to perform a 14-day Umrah organized by various groups. However, due to errors by organizers and the spread of inaccurate information, they have not yet been able to return.

Most of the group are elderly, including citizens with chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension, requiring regular medication. The pilgrims have sought assistance from the Uzbek government.

Consulate representatives noted that in recent years, Umrah trips are often organized by travel agencies or private individuals without proper licenses, leading to challenging situations for citizens in Medina and Jeddah.
