Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Government of Uzbekistan has approved a procedure for paying monetary rewards to individuals who report violations in the use of the earth’s subsoil.

According to the resolution, citizens who document such violations using photo or video equipment must submit their materials to the Inspectorate for Supervision in the Mining Industry and Geology via the “Geomonitoring” system.

The submitted materials must include confirmation of the violation, information about the offender (if available), as well as the location, date, and time of the incident.

The submitted photo and video evidence will be reviewed within 15 working days.

Individuals who provide reliable evidence are entitled to a monetary reward: for documenting illegal extraction or transportation of widely used non-metallic minerals — 1 basic estimated value (BEV); for detecting other violations related to mineral extraction and processing — 5% of the fine imposed on the offender.
