Uzbekistan Approves Plan to Celebrate the 690th Anniversary of Amir Temur’s Birth

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree “On the Grand Celebration of the 690th Anniversary of the Birth of the Great Statesman and Military Leader, Patron of Science, Culture, and Art, Sahibqiron Amir Temur.”

According to the decree, the 690th anniversary of Amir Temur’s birth will be widely celebrated in 2026.

April will be annually designated as “Amir Temur Month,” during which educational institutions and regional centers across the country will host meetings with historians, writers, and artists specializing in the study of the Timurid era.

The decree also approves a “roadmap” through 2030, outlining key events. Among them is an international scientific conference on 9–10 April at the Center of Islamic Civilization, entitled “Amir Temur and the Significance of the Timurid Dynasty in World History and Culture.”

A scholarly annotated edition of Temur Tuzuklari is planned to be published in Persian, Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Spanish, and Russian.

Additionally, two album books will be prepared: 100 Rare Manuscripts of the Timurid Era and 100 Treasures of the Timurid Era, along with the creation of an electronic platform of Timurid-era sources.

An organizational committee has been established to coordinate the preparation and implementation of all planned initiatives, aimed at promoting the legacy of the great military leader and cultural figure.
