Uzbekistan approves new regulation for issuing sanitary and epidemiological certificates for products
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan has approved, by Resolution No. 720, the Administrative Regulation for the provision of the state service for issuing sanitary and epidemiological certificates for food and agricultural products.
Under the new regulation, certificates are issued for a period of three years. For products imported from abroad, the validity period corresponds to the product’s shelf life, while goods without an established shelf life receive certificates with no time limitation.
Obtaining a sanitary and epidemiological certificate is mandatory when launching new production, changing the composition or characteristics of a product, modifying its design or technological process, issuing certificates for pilot samples, importing products into Uzbekistan, as well as upon the expiration of previously issued certificates.
The service can be obtained in person at Public Service Centers or electronically through EPIGU (my.gov.uz). The Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health verifies certificates using a QR code and sends them to the applicant’s personal account within one working day.
The document aims to enhance procedural transparency, simplify processes for producers and importers, and ensure the safety of food and agricultural products for consumers.
