Uzbekistan Approves 43 Mergers and Acquisitions in the First Half of 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the first half of 2025, the Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Protection reviewed 52 applications for mergers and acquisitions, approving 43 of them, the Committee’s press service reported.
The largest number of approvals was recorded in the trade and industrial sectors, with eight deals each. In the IT industry, five mergers were cleared, while three were approved in both the energy and financial sectors. The Committee also endorsed four deals in education and pharmaceuticals, three in construction, and nine in tourism and agriculture.
Among the most notable transactions this year were the acquisition of developer Chorsu Real Estate Development by an investor from the UAE, and Pepsi’s purchase of the local retail chain Baraka Market earlier this spring.
For comparison, in 2024 the regulator approved mergers and acquisitions totaling 18 trillion soums, with 139 applications submitted in total.
