Uzbekistan and World Bank Discuss New Areas of Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 17–18 September, in Namangan, within the framework of the 3rd International Forum “From Poverty to Prosperity: Poverty Reduction in Uzbekistan,” Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov held a meeting with Luis Felipe Lopez-Calva, the World Bank’s Global Director for Poverty.
The meeting was also attended by Ambar Narayan, Head of the World Bank’s Global Department for Poverty and Equity in Europe and Central Asia, as well as Behzod Khamraev, Chairman of the State Committee on Statistics of Uzbekistan.
The parties discussed current areas of cooperation in poverty reduction, enhancing the effectiveness of the social protection system, and integrating the World Bank’s best practices into Uzbekistan’s national sustainable development programs.
As a result of the talks, both sides agreed to further expand cooperation and support initiatives aimed at reducing poverty and ensuring sustainable socio-economic development.
