Uzbekistan and World Bank Discuss Expansion of Agricultural Projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Today, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Alisher Shukurov, held a working meeting with Holger Krey, Manager for Agricultural and Food Practice at the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia.
During the talks, the parties discussed strengthening ongoing cooperation in the agricultural sector, the practical implementation of new projects, and the expansion of joint initiatives aimed at modernizing agriculture.
Special attention was given to the World Bank’s strategic programs in Uzbekistan’s agro-food sector, the national agricultural development strategy, and the current status of investment projects funded by the Bank.
Significant initiatives are already underway within bilateral cooperation, including the “Modernization of Agriculture in the Republic of Uzbekistan” project and the “Development of Agricultural Entrepreneurship in the Ferghana Valley” project.
These initiatives involve the introduction of intensive horticulture, modern irrigation systems, energy-efficient greenhouses, and innovative technologies for processing fruits and vegetables.
Additionally, plans were discussed to increase productivity, improve service quality, and develop a value chain in the fruit and vegetable sector with a market-oriented approach.
The parties agreed to continue fully implementing planned tasks, undertake additional investment projects, and expand scientific and technological cooperation to strengthen partnership relations.
