Uzbekistan and Vietnam Strengthen Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During a working visit to Hanoi, a delegation led by Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Nuriddin Ismoilov, held a meeting with Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Tran Thanh Man.

The discussions focused on the current state of Uzbek–Vietnamese relations and prospects for their further development, particularly the expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Special attention was given to the growing dynamics of bilateral ties in recent years. The consistent high-level dialogue between the leaders of both countries has provided a strong impetus for the steady development of relations across key areas — political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian.

Speaker Ismoilov briefed the Vietnamese side on the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, their outcomes, the activities of the lower house of parliament, legislative processes, parliamentary oversight, and inter-parliamentary initiatives.

For his part, Tran Thanh Man praised Uzbekistan’s effective and open foreign policy, emphasizing that strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation serves as a mutually beneficial mechanism for enhancing bilateral relations.

The two sides underlined the importance of intensifying dialogue, ensuring parliamentary oversight over the implementation of existing agreements, and effectively utilizing the potential of friendship groups and experience exchange in lawmaking.

They also highlighted the importance of further developing multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Vietnam — particularly in the fields of fertilizer production, logistics, and tourism — as a key contribution to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations.
