Uzbekistan and UNESCO Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 8 April, at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the National Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan for UNESCO and the Art and Culture Development Foundation, met with UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany.
Following the negotiations, the parties signed a Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and UNESCO, as well as a "Roadmap" for 2026–2027. These documents outline future directions for interaction in the fields of education, science, culture, communication, and information.
The agreement is aimed at the practical implementation of initiatives proposed by the President of Uzbekistan during the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, which took place in Samarkand in November 2025. It serves to reinforce the long-term partnership between the country and the international organization.
