Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of the UN Public Service Forum, Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov met with Roshan Bajracharya, Director of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS).

During the talks, the parties discussed Uzbekistan’s digital transformation, the development of information and communication technologies, the digitization of public services, and prospects for cooperation in the field of statistics.

The minister provided a detailed overview of the measures undertaken since 2017 to improve data dissemination and quality, enhance public health systems, and support the dynamic growth of the country’s IT sector. He especially emphasized Uzbekistan’s focus on improving education quality and creating an enabling environment for the development of artificial intelligence.

The meeting also covered the improvement of data transparency and quality, the creation of new databases, and the protection of data security.

As a result of the discussions, the parties reached an agreement to strengthen bilateral cooperation and implement joint projects in the field of digital technologies.

The UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) is UNESCO’s official statistical agency and the leading global source of reliable and comparable data in the fields of education, science, culture, and communication.

UIS works closely with national statistical agencies, relevant ministries, and other organizations to collect and analyze key indicators across UNESCO’s areas of competence.
